5K Run: Superheroes who like to run like the flash can sign up for the 5K Run and receive a race shirt (or cape), swag bag, and finisher medal! The run will be professionally chip timed by Riverside Runners. The start/end will be in the parking area of Percival's Island Trail in downtown Lynchburg.

Parents will receive a numbered bracelet which is their “ticket” to run with their child and/or pick up their child at the finish line parent/child meet-up corral. There will be 3 heats (races) beginning at 10:45 am, 11:15 am, and 11:45 am. The start location for all heats will be the parking area of Percival's Island Trail in downtown Lynchburg. Superheroes will chase the villains to the halfway point, refuel, and run back to headquarters. This fun run will not be timed and all kids will receive a collectible finisher's medal.

Virtual participants may also choose to have your items mailed to you for an additional fee of $8.00. This option is available during registration and for addresses in the contiguous United States. We will ship to Hawaii and Alaska upon request for an additional fee (email email@example.com for this option).
Parking information will be available in your race guide at packet pickup and online the week before the race. We are working at the speed of light to once again provide free shuttle service to several large downtown parking lots. Stay tuned!
What fun is a Superhero Run without costumes? We encourage everyone to wear their favorite superhero costume (buy it or make it) but it is certainly not required. Which superhero will you be? When selecting your costume, please be reminded that children of all ages will be participating in this family-friendly event (costumes should not be too revealing or scary please).
For safety reasons, all water at the finish line food tent and on the course (at halfway point of both events) will be bottled. Refreshments will be handed out in bags at the food tent.
All registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Due to the narrow path of the course, strollers are discouraged in the 5K Run for safety purposes. If you choose to push a stroller, you must start in the back and stay on the right side of the path at all times. Because the course is out and back and the path is narrow, strollers cannot line up side-by-side. This is for the safety of all participants.
For safety reasons, please do not wear headphones while running or walking on the course.
Assisted athletes with disabilities are welcome. Both the assisted athlete and the pusher must register and sign the waiver but will each only pay half price for registration. Please register as an assisted athlete team to get your discount. Assisted athletes will have a 3-5 minute advance start for course safety purposes. On race day, please go to the front of the starting line and our team will get you lined up. We will also have several parking spaces reserved near the event. Please look for our parking attendants and let them know you are an assisted athlete team.
For safety reasons, dogs and other pets are not permitted on the course.
To ensure the health and safety of our race participants, we have planned several adjustments to our in-person race event:
As COVID-19 evolves, we will continue to closely monitor reports provided by local authorities, the Virginia Department of Health & the CDC to determine if additional safety measures are needed. We plan to hold an in-person event unless restrictions are implemented at the local, state, or federal government that would prevent us from doing so. In this case, we would shift to a virtual event.
Race participants always have the choice to shift to a virtual option. Please use the following FAQ’s to better understand what this means. Feel free to reach out to our CASA staff or board members to discuss any questions.
1. How would a change to virtual be communicated?
Updates will be emailed directly to sponsor contacts, as well as posted on both our Facebook page & race website.
2. If the race is moved to virtual, will sponsors be refunded or receive some other benefits for their sponsorship?
Sponsors will continue to get exposure for the virtual event through various social media, radio & other advertising as currently listed in the sponsor guide. While we are not able to give refunds, we will work closely with each sponsor to find additional ways to highlight your business in the local community to compensate for the lost in-person event exposure.
1. How would a required change to virtual be communicated?
If we are required to move to a virtual race, individual emails will be sent to each participant, as well as posted on our Facebook page & race website to let you know that you have been automatically moved to the virtual event.
2. What if I choose to move to a virtual race instead of in person?
If at any point you would like to move to a virtual race, please contact the race director at firstname.lastname@example.org.
3. Is there a cost to change to virtual?
No, there is no cost to move to a virtual race.
4. When is the latest I can decide to move to a virtual race?
By November 1st
5. How would a change to a 100% virtual race impact other components of the race?
-You would choose to run the race anytime over the weekend (11/6-11/7)
-You would run / walk at the location of your choice
-You would upload your finish time to the Runsignup results page
-The costume contest would be held virtually with participants posting photos through an online form
6. Will there be age group awards for virtual participants?
No, virtual participants are not eligible to participate in the age group awards
